Do-it-yourself wooden playground projects. How to create a simple playground project

Children's and sports equipment 19.07.2019
Children's and sports equipment

The secrets of the correct layout of the playground on the site!

Such a zone should be clearly visible from the windows of the house and visible from the recreation area. Children must be within sight of adults at all times. In no case should a playground be installed next to a pool or natural reservoir. Next to the playground, you can organize a children's garden. When planning the site, the age of the children should be taken into account. If swings and a sandbox are relevant for kids, then for teenagers you should think about a labyrinth, hanging bridges or a basketball hoop. Sports equipment is also desirable in the playground. And it is necessary to think for the future, because the “two-year-old” kid, who managed with one sandbox, will require both a slide and a playhouse next year. Equally important are factors such as safety, functionality and aesthetics.

Children need both open spaces for outdoor play and secluded places for quiet activities. If the site is small, then you can save space due to proper planning. For example, using combined projectiles or placing tree houses on wooden supports. A children's garden house can become a favorite place for a child to play, as it will give free rein to his imagination, allow him to express his individuality. In order to successfully fit the house into the general style of the garden, you must either give it the status of a garden decoration, carefully working on the design and choosing the right finishing materials, or even exclude it from the boundaries of the viewing areas.

So, when planning a place for a playground, do not forget about the following rules:

The playground must be protected from the wind so that the excited children do not catch a cold. In addition, the south side of the site is not recommended, since the scorching sun's rays can cause no less harm than a cold wind. Therefore, the best option for the location of the playground would be the southwestern part of the site with wind protection (fence or crown of a large tree);

Hard materials should not be used as floor coverings. Children often fall during games, so you need to protect them from injury. The best option would be to cover the area with a grassy lawn or a special rubber coating, the latter option allows you to create a colored, colorful, non-slip and dry coating;
- Children's playground should be clearly visible so that children spend their time under adult supervision;
- You should not place a children's corner next to glass greenhouses and outbuildings, they are objects of increased danger, especially if children prefer active games. If there is a reservoir nearby, then it must be protected with a fence or a net;
- Despite the protection from sunlight, the site should be well lit;
- The safety zone for swings and slides is at least 2 m. Various moving parts must be well fixed and made of strong, quality materials. Supports for swings and slides must be dug into the ground at least 0.5 m;
- The dimensions of the game elements themselves should be commensurate with the age of the children. For example, for children from 2 to 5 years old, the optimal size of the sandbox is 1.5x1.5 m, and the height of the slide is no more than 1.2 m. For older children, the height of the slide can be from 2 to 3.5 m, and the swing can be up to 2 .5 m high.

How are projects developed for playgrounds? Design, selection of equipment and design of play areas in shopping centers, parks, kindergartens, house adjoining areas.

Experienced architects do not adhere to rigid patterns and frameworks when developing a playground project. It makes no sense to copy standard forms, because each game complex is unique both in terms of location and set of elements. When creating such structures, take into account:

  • climate and soil type;
  • age and number of children;
  • terrain relief.

The next step is purpose. Play facilities can be located in the courtyards of residential buildings, in park areas, on the territories of hotels and health camps, in kindergartens and schools, hospitals and rehabilitation centers.

Sites in parks and yards

The largest objects, divided into zones for different age groups, are located in the yards of multi-storey buildings, in parks and health camps. When developing projects for playgrounds, it is taken into account that the structures:

  • designed for children of different ages with the possibility of their simultaneous presence on the territory of the complex;
  • equipped with equipment with a high degree of wear resistance;
  • adjacent to sports facilities and recreation areas (squares, parks).

School sports complexes

Here, the main attention is paid to the placement of sports equipment: simulators, climbing elements, ropes and rings, climbing walls, wall bars and horizontal bars. The territory is divided into playing and sports parts.

Sites for hotels and inns

Since the owners of hotels and inns save free space, it is convenient to use compact equipment to equip playgrounds. Multifunctional buildings that can accommodate on the territory of 17-20 square meters. m, produced by the Finnish company Lappset. Slides, climbing structures, playhouses and exercise equipment are thought out to the smallest detail and captivate children for a long time.

materials

Today, the main parts of the equipment are made of solid wood impregnated with antifungal compounds. This material is available in domestic conditions, practical, combines high strength and aesthetic performance. Frequent additions to wood are plastic and stainless steel.

Basic elements for designing playgrounds

Now let's talk in more detail about the main elements that are used in the design of playgrounds.

  • Series from Lappset - Finno, Closs, ABC. These are towns with towers, which are adjacent to additional elements: slides, rope and wooden climbs, climbing walls, swings, obstacles and transitions. They form the center of the territory for games and set its style and concept.

  • . Open and closed structures, equipped with benches for sitting, countertops and game elements. They are ordinary (in the form of a square) and stylized (“Truck”, “Ship”).

  • These are traditional suspended structures on chains, balance beams for two, spring rockers in the form of animals (“Fish”, “Snail”, “Fox”) and vehicles (“Motorcycle”, “Tractor”).

  • Carousels. Designed for 1-4 children, they come in a variety of forms, from traditional platforms to hanging structures with iron cables and structures for spinning on hands.
  • Hills and tunnels. Separate structures, sometimes equipped with towers and playhouses, for the smallest (“Ladybug”, “Caterpillar”).
  • Presented in the Gym and Fitness series. These are simulators for completing outdoor fitness centers for adults and children, aimed at non-professionals.

  • Park furniture. The category includes gazebos, benches, urns, tables.

The project of a children's playground can be developed for growth. First, mount the main elements, leaving room for additional devices (houses, MAFs, simulators), which will be added as the children grow or when the construction budget is replenished.

When choosing equipment for parks and recreation centers, provide game elements for children with disabilities in the playground project. Bright and interesting designs will not be empty. Lappset has developed individual series (Madagascar, Coral) that meet the requirements. The slides have wide slopes, as well as ramps for wheelchair access.

Features of playground projects

  • Coating. On the playground, you can use grass (both lawn and artificial), PVC tiles, a layer of sand. The main function of the coating is to prevent injuries from falls, which are not uncommon in active games.
  • Reliability of structures. Supports for swings, slides and roundabouts are installed in concrete bases to a depth of at least 0.5 m. We recommend making 4 mounts per support.
  • Structural dimensions. When designing a playground, it is important to take into account not only the actual size of the game elements, but also the safety zones. The size of the game elements should also be matched to the age of the target consumers. Children 2–5 years old need slides 1.5 m high. Children of primary school age - up to 3.5 m.
  • Strength and wear resistance. Solid wood elements must be impregnated with antifungal compounds, and metal parts must be powder coated to prevent corrosion.

Progress in project preparation

The design of the playground in stages is as follows.

  • Site selection and preliminary preparation of the territory.
  • Drawing up a plan of the complex.
  • Creation of a design concept and layout of the site on the ground.
  • Foundation preparation.
  • Placement and fixation of large equipment (game complexes, houses).
  • Installation of small architectural forms, accessories and decorative elements.
  • Laying of a covering in the territory of a game zone.

We will tell you more about the location of the object, its area and design.

Area and location of the complex

The right location is half the success of the enterprise. The territory should be partly in the shade, partly in the sun and have structures that will allow you to hide from the rain (arbors, umbrellas, houses, awnings).

Bad places:

  • near roads and highways;
  • next to glass shop windows.

If there are no other options, it is possible to place a playground here, but additional protective devices (high fences) are needed.

The average area of the complex for kids is 8-9 square meters. m, for schoolchildren - 15 sq. m or more. Multifunctional play areas, which are simultaneously visited by up to 20 children, should have an area of 50-100 square meters. m.

In recent years, designers have been advised to move away from acid tones. Finno and Halo gaming complexes in hi-tech style, compact and modern fit well into urban architectural landscapes. In park areas, intricate buildings of the Flora series in a fantasy design are appropriate.

Examples of completed projects from the company "New Horizons"

The New Horizons company, together with the Finnish brand Lappset, which we mentioned more than once in the article, develops projects for playgrounds of various configurations, scales and content. Finished structures have already been installed in parks and squares in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sochi and other Russian cities.

The complexes fit perfectly into urban development and find fans among children and parents. You can view the releases on the company's website and in the showroom.

10. Glue the ends of the ladder and slide to the limiters and cut off the excess ends of the paper. 11. Glue the roof of the complex. 13. Design the product. 12. Make a horizontal bar.

Before you start creating a children's playground, you need to plan everything and transfer your ideas to paper. The plan-scheme will help to place all the game attractions in the most optimal way, you will be able to calculate the size of the site, playing places, take care of the safe location.

Planning and designing a playground initially requires choice of location. This is a very important stage, since the place for the children's playground must be well lit and, at the same time, direct sunlight is undesirable (after all, our summer is very hot) around the clock. Well, if some part of the site is in the shade of trees, if there are none, it is advisable to build an awning. In general, you should focus on how your site is located, the main condition is not to make a playground on the north side, since in this way it will always be in the shade, it’s better in the sun, because in this case you can always build a canopy. It is also desirable that the site is located near the house and in the field of view (viewed from the windows), green spaces (trees, bushes) should not interfere with the review.

When planning a site for a playground, it is necessary to consider children's age. If the smallest are enough sandboxes and a couple of swings, then for older children you will need to build all sorts of labyrinths, horizontal bars, slides and the like. Sports equipment is also highly desirable. Do not forget also that even the smallest child, if he is playing in the sandbox now, will demand new attractions like a slide or a playhouse in a year. Think a little ahead.

According to the standards, for each child under the age of seven years, it is necessary to allocate an area within 9 square meters, for children under 12 years old - an area within 15 square meters. At the same time, in front of the slides, ramps and stairs you need to leave space for running, and around the swing there should be a safety zone 2 meters wide.

Desirable location of the playground as possible further from the road, if this is not possible, you can protect it with a plantation of shrubs and trees with a dense crown. In addition to protection from dust, such green spaces will also protect from cold winds. At the same time, it should be borne in mind that thorny plants (rose, wild rose, gooseberry, barberry, and others), shrubs with poisonous / inedible berries (elder, wolfberry, and others) cannot be planted near playgrounds. Also, do not use any chemicals as fertilizers if the plants are located near the playground.

Important is playground cover, it must be safe:

  • sand - a layer thickness of at least 15 cm for preschool children, at least 30 cm for older adults,
  • wood flooring is not the best option, but still. Wooden flooring is quite soft (not hard), comfortable and looks very interesting, besides, you can draw on it))) Among the shortcomings, fragility and susceptibility to decay can be noted,
  • gravel chips - good if you choose the size of fractions up to 0.5 mm inclusive, in which case the granules will not be scratched and the coating will be quite soft,
  • rubber tiles are a very good and modern material that does not require any maintenance - such tiles can be washed with ordinary water from a hose and swept, they do not retain dirt, are very durable and will last for decades

The extreme version, it seems to me, is very successful, it looks impressive and very original. Add some fun attractions and the project is ready.

To be honest, the finished projects are just an example, to see what kind of playgrounds are and get some ideas. As for the rest, everything is individual, I think that you yourself know on which platform it will be more comfortable for your children to play and develop.

During the construction of any structures, remember safety, they must be made of high quality, durable materials. Do not forget to impregnate wood with antiseptics and, if necessary, cover it with frost-resistant paint or varnish.

Introduction

This year I am participating in the Moscow Olympiad “Museums. Parks. Estates.»

The first park we visited was the Trubetskoy Manor Park.

On assignment, we had to find all the playgrounds there, they were very interesting, each with its own name.

I thought about whether there were always playgrounds in parks and yards, I began to ask mom, dad, grandmother, look for material on the Internet.

Some guys told me that 21st century kids want to play

only in electronic toys, and their parents forcibly take them out to the playgrounds.

I wanted to know if this is really the case.

And I was also interested in making a layout of the playground with my own hands.

This is how this project came about.
